Applications

• Food Industry: Its most common use is as a color fixative to prevent fruits and vegetables (such as cut apples and potatoes) from browning due to oxidation. It also serves as a preservative to inhibit microbial growth and extend the shelf life of food. Additionally, it can be used in wines and beers to stabilize flavor and prevent spoilage.
• Industrial Production: It is mainly used as a reducing agent in the bleaching process of the printing and dyeing as well as papermaking industries to remove residual oxidants from fabrics or paper. It is also applied in the production of chemical products like cellulose sulfite and sodium thiosulfate, and for removing residual chlorine from water in water treatment.
• Other Scenarios: In the pharmaceutical field, it can act as an antioxidant in pharmaceutical preparations to prevent the oxidation and inactivation of drug components. It can also be used to adjust the pH value of electroplating solutions and absorb acidic gases such as sulfur dioxide in waste gas treatment.
